The Effect of Entrepreneurship Skills Training on Enterprise Sustainability: Case of Mbale District

Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to examine the effect of the entrepreneurship skills training on enterprise sustainability in Uganda. Specifically, the study tests whether enterprise management, responsible savings and investment culture, continuous business counseling and mentorshipaffect enterprise sustainability and whether there is a relationship between entrepreneurship skills training and the enterprise sustainability. A sample of 81enterprises fromMbale District was used to test the effect between variables. Theoretically, the research questions were tested and data were presented using statistical parameters such as percentages, frequencies and correlations. The study findings reveal that proper entrepreneurship skills training leads to enterprise sustainability. The key entrepreneurship skills perceived to affect enterprises sustainability include enterprises include enterprise management, responsible savings and investment culture, continuous business counseling and mentorship. The findings also show that there is a positive relationship between entrepreneurship skills training and enterprise sustainability. Based on these findings the study recommends that efforts should be made by the government and Entrepreneurship Skills Training (EST) providers to ensure and enhance availability of these training to all enterprises in the country for sustainable economic growth
