Abstract
This study was designed to investigate on the Effect of On the Job Training on Employee Performance in Financial Institutions using Post bank as the case study. The study was guided by the following objectives: To examine the effect of Mentoring on Employee performance, To examine the effect of Coaching on Employee performance and to examine the effect of Job Rotation on Employee performance. The study was guided by two theories that is Human Capital Theory and Tournament Theory and the Literature was prepared objective by objective The researcher used a case study research design where quantitative method of research was used. The study population for the research was the entire population of Post bank. The study surveyed 60 respondents from post bank Masaka branch comprising of General Manager, Head of departments, Board members, Employees, Clients and Support staff. The researcher used the Krejcie & Morgan (1970) table to determine the sample size of sixty (60) respondents. The researcher used questionnaires in the collection of data which were purposively distributed. In addition, the data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 16) which was used to run descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentages, mean and standard deviation, Correlation to determine the relationship between the Independent variable and Dependent variable so as to present the quantitative data in form of tables. The findings revealed that Mentoring has a strong positive relationship with Employee performance (R=0.650) whereas Coaching and Job Rotation have a positive weak relationship with Employee performance (0.375 and 0.270) respectively. Basing on these findings, it was recommended that the management at Post bank should put much emphasis on Job Mentoring, much attention should be given to Coaching and also management should let the employees be aware of the organizational structure and job description to all employees.
