District Work Relations and Administrative Performance of Headteachers in Governmentaided Primary Schools of Bukomero Sub County in Kiboga District.

Abstract

This study was titled District work relations and administrative performance of Head teachers in Government aided primary schools of Bukomero Sub County in Kiboga district, under the following the specific objectives: To find out the extent to which effective communication of DEOs influence head teachers’ administrative performance in government aided primary schools of Kiboga district, To find out the extent to which effective planning and coordination on head teachers influence the administrative performance in government aided primary of Kiboga district and To identify the changing roles and duties of head teachers in government aided primary in Kiboga district and their influence on head teachers’ administrative performance.

This study employed a Cross-sectional Survey design with both qualitative and quantitative approaches that entailed questionnaires and interview guides that were analyzed descriptively under the following Sampling techniques; Random sampling technique where we select a group of people for study from a large population, Purposive sampling that based on characteristics of a population and the objective of the study and Convenient sampling technique where subjects based on their convenient accessibility and proximity to the researcher. A sample of 132 respondents (District Education Officers, Headteachers and Teachers) was selected basing on the stipulations of Krejcie and Morgan (1970). Descriptive statistics clearly show that District work relations play a great role in influencing head teachers administrative performance.

Basing on the findings, the study recommended that there is need for motivation of teachers for classic service delivery, need for more capacity building workshops and also need for organizational structuring and hierarchical arrangements in order to fully employ effective delegation.
