Abstract
This research investigated the relationship between project management and power grid expansion at Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL). The study objectives were to; establish the relationship between project scope management and power grid expansion at UETCL, identify the relationship between project cost management and power grid expansion at UETCL and establish the relationship between project time management and power grid expansion at UETCL. The study adopted a cross sectional survey research design and adopted both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data was collected using both questionnaires and interviews from a sample of 92 respondents and documents review.
The study findings revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between project scope management and power grid expansion revealed at 0.520**, there is a positive relationship between project cost management and power grid expansion confirmed at 0.654**and there is a positive relationship between project time management and power grid expansion at UETCL which was confirmed at Pearson’s correlation coefficient of 0.622**.
The study recommends that; project managers should maintain a project Log of all request for changes including approved and not approved changes with their justifications. It is also recommended that cost estimating process must consider whether the cost of the additional design work will offset the expected savings. This study also recommends that activities must be sequenced accurately in order to support later development of a realistic and achievable schedule.
