The Effect of Reward System S on the Perfomance of Employees in Primary Schools in Uganda Case Study: Jinja Central Primary School

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to ascertain the impact of reward system on employees’ job performance in primary schools in Uganda. The research question addressed the extent to which improved employees job performance is influenced by the implementation of reward system in Jinja central primary school. The core aspect of the study was the use of cross-sectional survey research design in generating the required primary data and the use of questionnaires together with interview guides were highly comprehended for acquisition of secondary data. This was through the use of library books, internet and journals which was so helpful in the building of chapter 2. The place of study was Jinja Central Primary School in Jinja district while the duration of the study focused on the last five years of existence thus between (2009-2014). SPSS was used in analyzing the different samples employees using stratified random sampling method for the purpose of questionnaire administration. However, a total of 35 respondents were able to answer and return the questionnaires hence analyzing 35 questionnaires. The results indicated that implementation of reward system in Jinja Central Primary School to a large extent influenced improved employees’ job performance (82% response rate). It therefore recommends among others: regular review of organizational reward system to ensure fairness, maintenance of competitive rates of pay, flexibility in reward administration and rewarding people for the value they create.
