Abstract
The major objective of this study was to establish to establish the relationship between intrinsic motivation and employee performance.
The specific objectives are; to find out how employees need for recognition relates to employee performance, to explore the relationship between employees need for achievement and the performance, and to examine how need for competence impacts on the employee performance.
A case study design was used to conduct the study with a sample size of 52 respondents. The researcher used questionnaire as data collection instrument in the study.
The findings revealed that there is correlation between intrinsic motivation and employee performance with a positive and significant relationship (r = 0.444**, p 0.01). This is an indication that improves working conditions by the company lead to motivated employees who progress fully increase their performance at the organization.
Ba sing on the findings of the study, the researcher recommends that the organization should continue improving recognition of employees in various departments through taking employees for training by carrying proper performance appraisals which energizes employees to give their best in performance.
The company should further increase communication tools like suggestion boxes that gather issues of employees and always providing feedback to the staff that makes employees look valuable to the organization and enhances to perform to the best of their ability
