Unilever Uganda limited is an Anglo Dutch multinational consumer goods and distribution company dealing in toiletries and cooking products such as Geisha soap, Close up, Royco, Vaseline, and Omo washing powder among others. The current research study focused on the branch of Uganda in Kampala located in industrial area Bugolobi because it would be easy to collect the data needed .The main focus was based on employees in the organization and their employers’ efforts in availing the best working environment and conditions so as to get the best out of their work force.
Different organizations and stakeholders in businesses come up with ways to improve and provide the best working conditions in their organization. The researcher argues that much as this has to be done to ensure good results, it is not just enough, as it is a long process. The researcher believes that there is need for workers to be listened to and involved in decision making as this makes employees feel part of the organization. Employers must also look at the motivation of employees through ensuring good health, safety and security, performance appraisal of the workers as well as inducting proper recruitment, selection and orientation of employees. This study investigated the role employees play in the performance of organizations and the results revealed that employees become a pillar of success and better job performance in organizations through increased effectiveness and efficiency leading to better performance.
Data was collected through a number of methods like purposive sampling, systematic sampling, interview guides, questionnaires, secondary sources of information like journals and many more. Data was analyzed in form of tables and charts.
The study concluded that although organizations were aware of the human resource management policies and all its principles, there exist several weaknesses in its management and therefore suggested further areas for research to help in curbing these weaknesses.
Further research was suggested for a comprehensive study on different rewards that affect the performance of organizations.
