Abstract
The study examined the influence of transformational leadership on employee satisfaction and commitment. The study intended to achieve three objectives, namely: to examine the effectiveness of cost management systems used in NWSC-Mbale, ascertain the level profitability of NWSC in Mbale and to establish the relationship between cost management and profitability of NWSC in Mbale.
The study also intended to achieve three research questions, namely; Is cost management system used in NWSC effective?, What is the profitability of NWSC? AndWhat is the relationship between cost management and profitability of NWSC?
The study used tables and percentages to analyse the data
The study adopted a correlation study design. The sample constituted 100 respondents. However, 60 respondents returned the questionnaire. The study employed stratified random sampling and simple random sampling
The study revealed a positive significant relationship between cost management and profitability.
In regard to the study findings, the researcher recommended that labour recruitment should be authorised and planned for, there should be a proper audit preparation of the payroll so as to ensure uniform salaries to all the workers, there should be performance appraisal to maintain a high standard in service, NWSC should develop a detailed accounting system in order to know where and when costs are incurred. It also enables management to know the nature of costs incurred.
