Abstract
The study sought to investigate the effect of diversity management on organization performance in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Sports as the case study. Work place diversity management is an issue today that many organizations tend to undermine. A couple of organizations are not willing to embrace change in their work force and operations. The study is expected to make diversity management well known.
The objectives of the study were to; to assess the relationship between gender and organizational performance, to investigate the relationship between education background and organizational performance and to examine the relationship between ethnicity and organizational performance.
A sample of 34 employees was studied from the ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Sports. Data was collected using closed and open ended questionnaires and observation methods.
The findings of the study were that gender, ethnicity and education background had an effect on organization performance.
The study concluded that gender was important because it formed the sex composition of the employees. It was also concluded that Ethnicity was important because they formed part of who employees were. Lastly, it was concluded that Education Background was also important because it catered for one’s skills, their employment as well as task completion among others which compliment organization performance respectively.
Furthermore, the study recommended for gender a policy formulation for confidence boosting of the females. It was also recommended for education background to have adequate funds to cater for advanced training for employees to bring out the best of their potential in their various fields. Also, it was recommended for ethnicity to have cultural festivities that help in the creation of awareness of the various ethnic groups such as the Baganda, the Iteso among others around the organization.
