Abstract
This study sought to investigate the impact of formal education on entrepreneurship using Kibuye I Parish as a case study. The study objectives were; to establish the effect of formal education content on entrepreneurship success, to assess the effect of teaching methods on entrepreneurship success and to identify the effect of assessment system on entrepreneurship.
The study employed a case study design which adopted both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data on the impact of formal education on entrepreneurship success. The study used simple random sampling, purposive and snow ball sampling.
The study analyzed data with the aid of SPSS and was illustrated by use of tables. The study also used the Pearson’s correlation which revealed a slight relationship between formal education and entrepreneurship success.
Amongst the key findings, the study established that: there was a slight positive effect of formal education content on entrepreneurship success, teaching methods have negative effect on entrepreneurship success and assessment system methods have a negative impact on entrepreneurship success.
From the finding the following recommendations were made; content, teaching methods and assessment system of formal education should be designed to enable learners to acquire skills that can be used to succeed in entrepreneurship.
