Abstract
The study was on the effect of infrastructure development on the community welfare in Jinja municipal council. The study was guided by the following objectives;to examine the effect of Telecommunication development on the community welfare, to establish the contribution of financial institution development on the community welfare and to determine the relationship between Transport development and community welfare. Therefore the researcher used a case study designed with both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
A questionnaire was used to collect data which was analyzed using SPSS version 16 to derive frequencies, descriptive statistics as well as conduct correlation analysis for the study.The study registered a positive but insignificant relationship between telecommunication development and community as well as for financial institutions development and community welfare. Furthermore the study showed a positive but insignificant relationship between transport development and community development.
The researcher concluded that the local officials should highly focus on infrastructure development in order to steadily improve on the current community welfare such infrastructures such as telecommunications development, transport network development and financial institution development are still poorly developed which makes them to result into a positive but insignificant relationship.
The study recommended that management should ensure access to telecommunications units, banking institutions and creation of a good road network since the study showed a positive but insignificant relationship considering that they are critical to the development of all aspects of a nation’s economy including manufacturing, education, agriculture and standards of living.
