Abstract
The study was in relation to the impact of information technology on inventory management in production companies using a case study of Uganda Clays Limited. The purpose of the study was to establish how information technology affects inventory management at Uganda Clays Ltd. The purpose was further guided by specific objectives which included the levels of availability of Information Technology for Inventory management, the accessibility to information technology in the management of inventory and the extent to which Information Technology is embraced in inventory Management in Uganda clays Ltd.
The research used a descriptive research design comprising both qualitative and quantitative approach. The research employed primary and secondary data were primary data was collected using questionnaires. The research was cross sectional in nature implying it was carried out within a short period of time.
The research achieved its purpose for which it was carried and this was showed by the value of the co-efficient equals to 0.431. This value being positive, it meant that Information technology has an effect on inventory management at Uganda Clays Ltd. The significance value for the correlation was equal to .016 which was less than the level of significance (.05) in other words there is an effect of information technology on inventory management. Thus the results indicate that if information technology Strategies are positively put inconsideration, then there was a great improvement on the inventory management.
